Rahm Emmanuel is Obama's Whitehouse Chief of Staff (but of course everyone knows that). I'm sure William Hague, PC, got on like a (Gazan) house on fire when our Foreign Secretary of three days went over to Washington to learn what our foreign policy is. The following piece is lifted from onlinejournal.com

Rahm Emanuel's father specialized in bus bombings in Palestine

A well-placed British source informed WMR [http://www.waynemadsenreport.com] that Rahm Emanuel's father, Benjamin Emanuel, specialized in the terrorist bombings of buses carrying British troops and policemen during the British Mandate in Palestine.
British MI-6 files contain information on the elder Emanuel's participation in the terrorist activities of Irgun Zvai Leumi, a Jewish terrorist organization that targeted British forces, UN officials, and Palestinian Arabs in the lead up to Israeli independence in 1948.
Benjamin Emanuel, a Jew from Russia whose real name was Ezekiel Auerbach, was arrested by British police for terrorist activities in the months prior to Israeli independence. Many of the British policemen killed by Emanuel and his Irgun colleagues between 1947 and 1948 had been transferred to Palestine upon Indian and Pakistani independence in 1947. Irgun saw the increase of British policemen from the Indian subcontinent as a major threat.
The Jewish terrorist murders of British troops and policemen resulted in massive anti-Jewish riots in London, Liverpool, Glasgow, Manchester, and Cardiff in 1947. In 1946, Emanuel's Irgun bombed the King David Hotel in Jerusalem, killing 91 people, including 28 British soldiers and policemen.
British intelligence also believed that Benjamin Emanuel may have been related to Vladimir Jabotinsky, a Russian Jew from Odessa who founded Irgun. Jabotinksy, who was an admirer of Benito Mussolini and who secretly negotiated for the expatriation of Jews to Palestine with the Nazi government in Germany and Admiral Miklos Horthy's pro-Nazi regime in Hungary, died of a heart attack in New York in 1940.
Wikipedia deleted Benjamin Emanuel's entry in 2008, shortly after Rahm Emanuel was designated as President Obama's chief of staff. Wikipedia is a favorite device for the perception management goals of Dr. Cass Sunstein, Obama's director of the White House Office of Regulatory Affairs.
With a record of terrorist acts contained in his MI-6 files, Benjamin Emanuel was permitted by U.S. authorities to emigrate to Chicago from Israel in the 1950s, becoming a citizen. Rahm Emanuel was born in 1959.

There is a certain right wing British "historian" named Sebag-Montefiore who pretends not to know about those anti-Jewish riots in British cities. Or why did he refer to similar anti-jewish mob activity in Limerick in the 1900s as the last pogrom in the the British Isles?

Im not a fan of Rahm or the Obama admin. But really, does what one's father does have any relevance to their offspring? Why is this a story???

My ancestors were slave owners. I dont feel the least bit of guilt or shame or anything about it. It is what it is. I dont owe anyone anything because of it, and no one owes me anything. Pretty basic.

I'm with you on the the hand-wringing and apologies, flem. Tony Blair is "sorry" for slavery (abolished in the British Empire, 1833), but not for an illegal war of his own making. It's all PR nonsense.
But that's not the point of my drawing attention to this article. Firstly, Emanuel jr. is from a zionist extremist background which is likely to influence his opinions. This is a man who plays an important role in setting the Whitehouse agenda, who is the President's gatekeeper. The information is relevant and needs to be taken into consideration when dealing with this man. It also gives us an insight into the mindset of the man who appointed him.
Secondly his murderer father was granted entry and residence in the United States, demonstrating that there are terrorists and TERRORISTS.
Thirdly, and this was my main reason for posting the piece - the Sebag-Montefiore version of history that leaves out inconvenient details.

At the end of the day, Jemmy, I dont think its fair that a person be judged on the actions of those who came before him/her. Each individual is only responsible for THEIR actions. A "bad" sperm donor does not mean a bad person!

If you believe RE's actions go against your views, so be it. But it is not fair that you assess his "goodness" or "badness" on anything but his OWN behavior.

Obama selcted RE for many reasons, foremost of those heing his knowledge of Washington DC "workings" and vaunted toughness. Look, I despise the dude myself, for much different reasons than your own, but I would never drag his father into it.

Your version of events may or may not be accurate. I have no way of verifying. However I find it quite puzzling that we would provide refuge to a man who wantonly killed british troops, when the UK is one of our staunchest allies. I feel pretty confident in saying that if he had really done such things, and the UK wanted him, our relationship with britian would have been much more valuable than anything he could have provided. Contrary to what you think, we are a practical people, and dont have some weird "love" of all things zionist :) If the guy was given shelter here there had to be a reason, and/or he was not the bad guy you claim.

The only other possible explanations would be if he had some intelligence or scientific value. As you know, we absconded with lots of nazi scientists at the end of WWII, and they became the basis for the US space program today. Also, as it was back in the days of early days of the Cold War, if he had some valuable intell on the USSR, then maybe we cut a deal. You know the world is not a perfect place and sometimes deals are cut with very unsavory types for "the greater good". I am just taking some wild guesses here, but unless you give a reason why we would harbor someone gulty of such heinous crimes, other than "the US loves zionism", Im not buying it.

Nature or nurture, the man's background should be known to those dealing with him.
"The US loves zionism", well no, but your ruling class (whose existence you refuse to acknowledge) needs to fan the flames in the Middle East. It needs a stick to shake at the oil sheikhs, and the zionist nutters fill the bill. Not to mention that the world's biggest manufacturer and exporter of armaments needs a controllable degree of armed conflict in various far-off hotspots.

Well Jemmy, I attended private schools from high school through grad. Ive been around plenty of millionaires, even some billionaires. Is this the "ruling class" of which you are speaking? Or some other far more mysterious and nefarious group? Sorry man, but Im just not buying there is a small sect of people pulling the strings and running the show. The system is just much more complex than that.

The US didnt invent war and conflict. Both were around long before us, and will be around long after. To pretend otherwise is pure folly. The "powers that be" cannot conjure up wars in faraway lands to "feed the machine" any more than I can convert water to gold. Silly.

Knowing the personal family background of someone is fine, but should not be used as a job screeing tool. Ever see "Gattica"?
