To return this man to his country with its dangerous human rights record “would be devastating for him, his family, indeed it could prove fatal”, pleaded Johnson. “There are few cases where we need our system to work more than this one.”
But last month the 35-year-old was returned to that very country, thanks to none other than Alan Johnson, home secretary and prize hypocrite – according to Labour activists in his constituency (where one has given up his lifelong Labour party membership in protest.)

From a piece in the current 'Private Eye' (1249) which can be read, along with additional information, here.

Cheers for the link, any chance of getting a letter in to AJ?

Would there be a point in writing now that the foul deed has been done? I am trying to make this known more widely. I spoke to the friend who runs the Hull Campaigns website ( http://www.sokuto12.karoo.net/ ) on Saturday, and he knew nothing of this. Ive done a search on my local paper's website, and there is reference to the foiled deportation attempt, but not to the deportation. It may be that the deportee's church members worked on this in isolation. I intend to contact the church and see if any further actions are planned. If I learn anything I'll post.

I contacted the newspaper and they couldnt report that he was sent back.

I'd just like to hold AJ to account to be quite honest. :/

Couldn't report? What, some kind of D-notice on it? Or an editorial decision based on the old pals act?
I don't see why anyone who wishes to make their opinion known can't write to AJ in his capacity as Home Secretary. But I think a public outcry rather than private recrimination would be more effective.
