A statement on the flotilla massacre from the Irish Congress of Trade Unions -

"This was a callous attack on innocent civilians which showed an utter disregard for all precepts of international law and human rights.
"The people on those boats were civilians engaged in peaceful humanitarian work, bringing much needed aid to the Gaza Strip and were no threat to anyone.
"To launch a military assault on a humanitarian convoy is beyond the bounds of all that is acceptable and should be judged as such by the international community. The assault was akin to the actions of a rogue state.
"On behalf of the Irish Trade Union movement we would like to extend our sympathies to those killed and injured in this attack and we are thankful that the Irish contingent appears to be safe and well.
"We lend our support to calls for an immediate suspension of the EU's trade agreement with Israel and we also believe that the recent decision to accept Israel into full membership of the OECD should be reversed with immediate effect."

This is as near as any statement I've read so far to my own feelings. I would just amend "The assault was akin to the actions of a rogue state" to "The assault was the action of a rogue state".

My goodness Jemmy, quite a stir about the Gaza flotilla.

Let me say first that I saw where you "thanked science" for the internet. You do know that science isnt a sentient being, and therefore did not create the internet by itself. No sir, good old fashioned american ingenuity, capitalism, democracy, with some defense dept spending thrown in created the internet. Ironically, all things you loathe. Yet they have forever changed, in MOSTLY a positive way, the world forever. Note that there is nothing ever, in the history of the planet, that has had a profound impact and that has been, or will ever be, 100% positive for mankind. Sorry to burst your bubble on that. Does it irk you that communism or nature worshipping geeks would never, ever have created the internet? That the tribes of borneo are as close to creating the internet as I am to splitting the atom. Does it?

On Gaza, suffice it to say we will see how it all plays out. The US is not going to stop being Israelis friend or supporter - no matter what. If the arab world wants to get it on with the US/Israel, then we will oblige.

The more arabs express hate for Israel and advocate its destruction, the more Israel gets backed into a corner. You do know that when something dangerous is in that position there are usually nasty consequences, right?

Great Jemmy! Happy for your country-mate. The bottom line is, the internet sprouted to its current position based on development practices of capitalistic enterprises.

But the internet is just one example. There are thousands, if not millions, of others. If the USA and its system are so unimportant and/or "evil", why did the world sit fallow before undergoing the incredible transformation of the last 200 years? Oh yea, sure, just one of those weird coincidences, I guess.

The internet and the world wide web are not the same thing. Those major figures mentioned in the article below are all American.

"2007-02-23: No one person invented the Internet as we know it today. However, certain major figures contributed major breakthroughs:"
